William FedererThe Fall of the Roman Empire and the Courageous Story of St. Patrick (Banquet Hall West)
How was the time Saint Patrick lived similar to today? The Roman Empire was falling: Illegal immigrants were overrunning boarders; Latin Language was displaced: Sexual immorality; Exposure of unwanted infants; Violent gladiatorial entertainment; Outsourcing to North Africa; Enormous debt & government; Explosion of welfare & government jobs; Taxes unbearable; the Church was discouraged to have political involvement; Military was over stretched; and Atilla the Hun committed terrorist attacks.

Rome pulled its Legions back from the frontier of Britain leaving it to marauding gangs. Patrick was kidnapped as a boy and sold into slavery in Druid Ireland. He miraculously escaped, only to have at age 40 a divine call to go back as a missionary. He confronted Druid chiefs, baptized 120,000, used the three-leaf clover to teach the Trinity, and founded 300 churches, which in the next century sent missionaries back into Europe! You will be fascinated by Saint Patrick-The Real Story of Life & Times from Tragedy to Triumph!

William FedererMiracles in American History - Amazing Stories of Answered Prayer (Banquet Hall West)
Are you aware of these past crises when America's fate hung desperately in the balance? From the French & Indian War, Revolution, Barbary Pirate War, War of 1812, Civil War, WWI & II, etc., you will learn 'the rest of the story' of how leaders with faith and courage arose and disaster was averted! Captivating true-life incidents of seemingly unexplainable circumstances resulted in the nation being saved! You will be inspired as you uncover "Miracles in American History - 32 Amazing Stories of Answered Prayer." In 1746, 70 ships with 13,000 troops sailed from France to lay waste to the American colonies. Massachusetts Governor William Shirley proclaimed a Day of Fasting. What happened next was unexplainable! After the Battle of Monongahela, George Washington wrote from Fort Cumberland to his younger brother, John Augustine Washington, July 18, 1755: "But by the All-Powerful Dispensations of Providence, I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation; for I had four bullets through my coat, and two horses shot under me, yet escaped unhurt, although death was leveling my companions on every side of me!" How did Thomas Jefferson's resolution for a Day of Fasting on June 1, 1774, lead to the forming of the Continental Congress, and eventually Independence? How in 1781 the providential rising of three rivers in 10 days allowed Americans to escape British General Cornwallis? Or how the uncanny way Benedict Arnold's planned betrayal of West Point was discovered? George Washington exclaimed: "The Hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this (the course of the war) that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith." Ben Franklin declared: "In the beginning of the Contest with Great Britain...we had daily prayer in this room for Divine protection...All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a Superintending Providence in our favor." In 1865, President Lincoln proclaimed a Day of Fasting for April 30. What freak accident happened two days later which changed the course of the Civil War? What did Woodrow Wilson declared as the U.S. entered WWI. Or Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression? Or FDR, Eisenhower, MacArthur and Patton during WWII? Or Truman during the Korean War? When Apollo 13 was lost in space, what happened after President Nixon called all of America to pray? Are you aware of these American Miracles?

Megan ScheibnerThe A to Z of a Character Healthy Homeschool (Banquet Hall East)
If we homeschool simply to achieve high academic marks, we are squandering the opportunity to influence our children for Christ. Character healthy leaders are those children who have learned to elevate virtues above feelings. If we spend our homeschooling hours simply on academics and activities, we may win the praise of man, but we risk losing the hearts of our children. In our few short years with our children we must focus on the first things first and character is always the first thing! In this session, Megan, a homeschooling mother of eight, will challenge you to use every opportunity to teach your children to serve God by loving others and to love others by faithfully serving God.

William FedererChange to Chains - the 6,000 year Quest for Global Power (Banquet Hall West)
What is going on in the world? Is it politics as usual or is there a bigger picture? How did past civilizations rise and fall? Can the past give us an insight into the future? In the nearly 6,000 years of recorded human history, POWER, like gravity, seems to inevitably concentrate into the hands of ONE individual, sometimes called pharoah, caesar, czar, kaiser, king, caliph, emperor, monarch, sultan, president or communist dictator. No matter what the autocratic leader's particular title is, the default setting for human government throughout history has been monarchy. How rare is America's experiment with a republic? On the spectrum of human government, one side is TOTAL GOVERNMENT with power concentrated in the hands of a totalitarian dictator, and the other side is NO GOVERNMENT - anarchy. America, out of all previous nations on earth, was able to get closest to the anarchy side of the spectrum and still maintain order because of a secret ingredient - Judeo-Christian morality. Society could exist with less external control because citizens had more internal control. When power is concentrated, the State is supreme. When power is separated, the individual is supreme. America's founders had a unique window of opportunity to maximize the freedom and opportunity of the individual. James Wilson, who signed the Declaration and Constitution, and was appointed by George Washington to the Supreme Court, remarked November 26, 1787: "After a period of 6,000 years has elapsed since the creation, the United States exhibit to the world the first instance...of a nation...assembling voluntarily...and deciding calmly concerning that system of government under which they...should live." Ronald Reagan stated in 1961: "In this country of ours took place the greatest revolution that has ever taken place in the world's history...Every other revolution simply exchanged one set of rulers for another." But with the abandonment of that morality, with every new crisis, power re-concentrates away from "the people" back into the hands of a central government. Woodrow Wilson warned in New York, 1912: "The history of Liberty is a history of limitations of governmental power, not the increase of it. When we resist, therefore, the concentration of power, we are resisting the powers of death, because concentration of power is what always precedes the destruction of human liberties." Ronald Reagan stated at St. John's University, NY, March 28, 1985: "Government that is big enough to give you everything you want is more likely to simply take everything you've got." At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin addressed the "Dangers of a Salaried Bureaucracy" (The World's Famous Orations, America: I, 1761-1837, 1906, III): "There is scarce a king in a hundred who would not, if he could, follow the example of Pharaoh—get first all the people's money, then all their lands, and then make them and their children servants for ever...I am apprehensive that the government of the States may, in future times, end in a monarchy." President William Henry Harrison warned in his Inaugural Address, 1841: "The tendency of power to increase itself, particularly when exercised by a single individual...would terminate in virtual monarchy...The tendencies of all such governments in their decline is to monarchy." George Washington warned in his Farewell Address, 1796: "Disorders and miseries...gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an Individual...[who] turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public...and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism." Daniel Webster warned in 1802: "We live under the only government that ever existed which was framed by the unrestrained and deliberate consultations of the people. Miracles do not cluster. That which has happened but once in 6,000 years cannot be expected to happen often. Such a government, once gone, might leave a void, to be filled, for ages, with revolution and tumult, riot and despotism. The history of the world is before us." Why did America's experiment of people ruling themselves result in freedom and opportunity, whereas in former Soviet States it has resulted in organized crime and in Middle East it is resulting in Muslim Brotherhood totalitarian Sharia Law? Is past behavior the best indicator of future performance? What can we expect in the future? Find out as world history comes alive from a whole new perspective in Change to Chains: the 6000 year quest for control.

Jobe MartinThe Evolution of a Creationist (Erie)
This talk includes many of the evidences for creation that the Lord used to bring Dr. Martin from being an agnostic, zen-Buddhist, evolutionist to a young earth creationist. Dr. Martin uses statistics and current studies to vividly demonstrate how our Christian school kids are following the same downward path into secular humanism that the public school kids are taking and that it is only the homeschoolers who are "stemming the tide," though they are also sloping off into moderate Christianity instead of staying solidly Biblical. When belief in the Bible's authority and accuracy is shaken, people lose their trust in it and the culture departs from Biblical principles. This talk will help equip all ages with foundational truths about creation which will enable young people to stand strong against the attacks of evolution and secular humanism in the academic arena and today's culture.

William FedererThe Interesting History of Income Tax - and Its Impact on Religious Freedom (Banquet Hall West)
"The only things certain are death and taxes" - Benjamin Franklin. Yet few know America's interesting history of Income Tax, such as:

1787 - U.S. Constitution prohibited a "direct" Federal tax
1862 - "Revenue Tax" on incomes went into effect as an emergency to finance the Union during the Civil War
1873 - Civil War ended, emergency over, Income Tax Repealed
1895 - Supreme Court made Income Tax unconstitutional
1913 - Woodrow Wilson thought tariffs on imports caused wars, so he worked to replace them with an Income Tax. Income Tax was originally only a 1% tax on the top 1% richest people in America.
1943 - Paycheck Withholding began as an emergency effort to get funds to finance WWII.

John F. Kennedy - "Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased flow of revenues to the Federal Government." (Annual Budget Message, Jan. 17, 1963)

Thomas Jefferson - "It is an encouragement to proceed as we have begun in substituting economy for taxation" (2nd Annual Message, 1802) (176 pages, paperback, illustrations)

Jobe MartinBiblically Handling Technology and Social Media (Erie)

In this session Dr. Martin will share a Biblical approach to social networking, blogging, YouTube, Smartphones, texting, iPods, Kindles, etc. which are a huge part of everyday life now. This session will present specific Scriptures to help guide Christian teens and young adults in their use of technology-based systems so that they will glorify the Lord - not feed the flesh.

William FedererIslamic Conquest - Past & Present - Political Islam's 1,400 year War on the West (Banquet Hall West)
You will be fascinated by this fast-paced, objective history of the world from a perspective you never imagined. Current events come into focus in the backdrop of 1,400 years of unbelievable yet true events. Thousands of books, documents and articles have been researched over several years in preparation for this session. In 2006, Keith Ellison became the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress. He swore in on a Qur'an. Most Americans know little about the Qur'an, who wrote it, and how Islam spread. Within 100 years of Mohammed's death, his followers conquered North Africa, the Holy Land, Persia, Spain - from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. President Barak Obama stated in Cairo, Egypt, June 4, 2009: "Islam has always been a part of America's story." Indeed, Islam has affected the Western World from 622 AD to today's headlines. This session will give you a fascinating glimpse into captivating events and amazing stories— you won't want to miss it!

Find how Islam is connected to:
  • The stirrup for riding horses, who invented it and how Muslims used it to win military conquests?
  • Santa Claus - how Islam caused the story of Saint Nicholas to spread from the Byzantine Empire to Western Europe in 1087 AD?
  • How did Muslim Ottoman Turks invading the Byzantine Empire resulted in the Crusades, 1095-1272 AD?
  • What did Marco Polo say was the origin of the word "assassin"?
  • What happened to the Seven Churches of mentioned in the Book of Revelation?
  • How did the 1000 year old Byzantine Empire get conquered?
  • What did Sultan Mehmet II do to Constantinople in 1453 that led Columbus to set sail in 1492?
  • Dracula - What is the real-life account of "Vlad the Impaler" in 1462, (not Bram Stoker's 1897 fiction novel)?
  • What did Martin Luther say in 1529 about Muslim Turkish Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent who was laying siege to Vienna?
  • Who did Captain John Smith fight in Hungary in 1600 before founding Virginia in 1607?
  • Who did James Oglethorpe fight in Serbia in 1717 before founding the Colony of Georgia?
  • What happened to a Pilgrim ship returning to England to trade for supplies in 1625 when they met a Moroccan pirate man-of-war?
  • September 11, 1683 - How the Muslims loss in the Battle of Vienna lead to coffee and croissant pastries spreading across Europe?
  • How was Islamic expansion funded by the slave trade of millions Africans and Europeans?
  • How did Thomas Jefferson and James Madison's fighting the North African Barbary Pirates, 1805-1815, lead to the U.S. Marine nickname "leathernecks'
  • What happened to over 1.5 million Armenian Christians when President Woodrow Wilson failed to convince the U.S. Senate in 1922 to adopt Armenia as a protectorate — similar to Puerto Rico?
  • What was the impact of oil being discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938?

Turansky & MillerTeaching Children to Respond Well to Correction (Banquet Hall East)
Many children don't know how to respond properly to correction. After all, correction is one of God's tools for learning. Unfortunately many children blame, defend, rationalize and justify their behavior. When parents have a heart-based plan for correction they can help children develop good patterns for the rest of their lives. (handouts for talk)

  • "Under God" removed from the Pledge

Question: Isn't the real truth that they are intolerant of religion?" - Ronald Reagan, August 23, 1984
